Welcome to Flamencophile!

It's a bit messy, but you can come in and look around... Just watch out for the wet cyber-paint and the can of programming nails on the floor. This site is currently undergoing active development and testing. Feel free to poke around. A lot of the rooms don't have furniture yet and the ones that do are subject to a few quirks, but you can get a feel for the place and where I'm headed with it.

Yumi La Rosa Final Performance, Tuesday, Nov. 13th, 2007

Yumi la Rosa's final performance will be Tuesday, Novemeber 13th at the Hyatt, Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has been performed at the Hyatt with "Mosaico Flamenco" since August of 2000, when she left accounting to become a full-time flamenco performer and teacher.

It has been an amazing seven-year journey for Yumi and she invites all of her friends and family to her performance to come see her dance live before she leaves the stage to go on a maternity leave. And look for her planned return in April of 2008 as "Mama la Rosa!"

So Much for My Time Estimates...

With prepping to move and everything else I've got going, Flamencophile continues to slip further behind the schedule I set for myself. A more realistic estimate for initial release would be Nov. 1, 2007, and I'm becoming a bit skeptical of that.

In the meantime, I continue to build features in the background and there are usable portions of the site, just not much content yet. As my grandmother used to say, "We'll see what we see when we see it." :-)

Calendar of Events

The calendar of events is now viewable by the public. If you want to submit events to be listed, please use the site contact form to send information to me for posting. I still don't have all the bugs worked out for you to be able to post them yourself yet. That will be coming soon...hopefully in the next week, or at least by the official site release date.

Member Blogs Now Available

New Feature! Flamencophile now has basic blogging available to members. It's only text entries at the moment, but expect the ability to add photos, audio clips and video to show up on your blog entry page soon.

The background work I'm doing for this is quite similar to what will go on to implement the Artist pages - expect them soon, as well.

Tagging is Back

Tagging is back AND BETTER. I totally reworked the interface and tagging options for the whole site. Now, anytime a member posts new content, they can attach an existing tag (or, in many cases, create their own) to the article, blog post, or other item. This will give site users better search results, allow the tracking of "Most Popular" and "Hot" items, and enable various other bookmark and sharing features to work.

The more content we get and the more we use tags, the more valuable the social aspects of these linkages by category become. Rather than depending on machine generated links via keywords, real users make real decisions about the quality and relevancy of information. The idea is that the "cream" will rise to the top, but all the "milk" is still there, waiting to be searched in order to find more obscure information.
